The borders of seduction

Roses can create such a mess
A loud and simulated yes
But if you look deep inside where all the answers hide
Your heart won’t eagerly confess

Compliments can make you lose your way
Amidst the glowing things he’ll say
But if you keep your ears to yourself and somehow resist his spell
His eyes might lead the way

Dear God, why must we live if we die?
Dear God, why must we fail if we try?
And love to lose...
To have to hold...
To let it break and fade away -
Into the cold

Dear God, why must we trust if we lie?
Dear God, why must we learn if we cry?
And build to burn...
To find to keep
To let it snap and sink away -
Into the deep

Dear God, tell me do you even know?
How come the seed of light has ceased to grow
Dear God, tell me do you even understand
How far we need to fall before we land?

Safe and sound back on the ground
Where you put us long ago...

Do we want what we can't have?

Why is it that, in the world of today, woman everywhere find it hard to find love just around the corner? Wouldn’t it be best if, during our daily walk to work or just as we got on the train, some handsome young man with unforgiving charm would look our way? His voice would be warm, his lips would be soft and his scent would be intoxicating. Of course he would know all the right things to say. And with eloquent skill he would produce a single piece of paper, stating his single phone number to his single house where he lived his single, little life…
But, no. The Goddess of dating doesn’t always seem to be so kind. She hides romantic notions and friendly smiles even in forbidden faces. But when you think about it; why is that? Is it the fact that after a maybe brutal past relationship or nasty break-up you want to indulge yourself in a sweetly flavoured fantasy? Do we just need something to focus on for as long as we remain alone, adrift in the sea of hope and doubt?
Could it even be that the thought this unavailable factor brought to our reality provided us with the perfect protection? Because as long as there is another woman in the game and he is holding her hand, at least we can’t get hurt. Those questions can resound in your head thousands of times because love sometimes just doesn’t seem fair or logical.
But there is a saying that goes; life is what we make it. And I suppose that fully includes our love-lives – miserable as they may be. So tell me; do we merely want to enjoy the hunt without the down-side of having to drag along our secured prey or do we really more than often fall for the completely wrong guy?
Let the bells ring
And the trees swing in the wind
You can hear me and that’s enough for now
Let the child speak
And the roof leak where it may
You are near me and that’s enough for now

You are the fire behind my eyes
And you do not seem to realize
You are the bridge over troubled seas
You are like no other man to me
- You’re so beautiful

So, let the rain fall
And the trains make hellish noise
I can feel you and that’s what it’s about
Let the moon cry
And the stars die all at once
I can reach you and that’s what it’s about

You are the water to ease my pain
You are the clouds that can offer shade
You are the morning when nightmares come
You own the arms in which I belong
- You are so beautiful

So let the bells ring…

Just what purpose
Has a lie
When it looks you
In the eye?
What greater concept
Did I miss?
When you went in
For the kill, for the kiss

And oh, I’ve seen perfect illusions
And fire in the skies
I have felt your salvation brought on by truth’s demise
But who knew I was blinded
No, your heart wasn’t mine
I was but a pawn in the game of love
Once she’s back, hide away
No one’s seen her face today
There she walks, in a trance
Is it good, is it bad, is it?
Once she stops, please be fast
Her kind days aren’t made to last
There she goes, up the stairs
Is she high is she down, is she?
