Broken glass of broken mirrors laid down on the floor
As broken hearts and broken voices come knocking on my door
Though I restrain them they contain an shadow of their own
And every time I close my eyes I know I’m not alone
For words unspoken echo now throughout the midnight air
The dust that fell from way up high now clouds the former fair
It holds the world in iron hands that won’t release a soul
But hits too hard to contemplate the fire in this cold
So, stolen glances linger not inside this wretched place
Where loyalty and fear claim the last colours of your face
And memories, condemned, reside in shells of weakest form
The penalty for hope is reason even roses mourn
